“For Chase + Susan’s end of the Summer engagement session, Susan decide to take their Chicago engagement photography session to the sandy, Chicago, Lake Michigan beach shoreline. She was telling us how much she loved our past beach engagement photography sessions, and also that her and Chase enjoy spending time along the lakeshore together. So the decision was quickly made… we headed to the beach! The views of the Chicago skyline from the North side beaches, with the lake’s sparkling colorful water framing the City, is beautiful on a sunny day. Luckily C+S picked an amazing weather day, with a ton of warm sun light. Upon our first meeting, Susan said she’d like to add an engagement session prop into their engagement photo session. ( Always a fun option a few couple this year have incorporated into their shoots. ) In looking for a prop we hadn’t photographed with before, she decided on bringing a kite along to the beach. At first we were nervous it was too windy to get the kite up in the air, but after a few tries, we got the kite to fly. We loved adding some unique photo edits, texture and bright vintage color tones into the kite pictures. And also loved the soft and romantic photos of Chase + Susan ( which I’m guessing are also going to be a favorite of Susan’s ) which combined the late afternoon sunlight, the pier, and the sand creating a dusty monotone palette.
Susan + Chase’s first meeting was through Susan’s cousin at a 21st birthday party. After seeing each other a second time at another birthday party, sparks were flying and the rest is history. The proposal was an interesting Chicago engagement story as though a series of clues and letters Chase sent Susan on a scavenger hunt around the City of Chicago. He had her go to a few stops along Michigan Avenue ( Victoria’s Secret, Water Tower and the Signature Room ) gathering clues, but the final clue brought her to the awesome theWit Hotel where a room key was waiting and Chase was in the room down on one knee. After Susan said yes, the newly engaged couple joined family and friends on the rooftop bar of the Wit Hotel @ ROOF for drinks to celebrate. What a memorable and unique engagement!
Chase is related ( through another cousin ) to a past client of our’s Mark. ( Whom you might remember in our past blog photographs pictured with his beautiful fiancé Michele… Mark + Michele are our next upcoming wedding blog images to come! ) We love + appreciate hearing our couples have referred us to their friends and family members. Chase + Susan we had a blast spending the day with you two and appreciate you hiring us as your engagement and wedding photographers. We enjoyed our Sushi dinner break, exploring the lakeshore from the Chicago North Shores beaches down to Chicago’s Navy Pier, and a few weeks after this shoot talking with you at Mark + Michele’s wedding. Hope you enjoyed the session and seeing the pics – can’t wait to hear which photo is your favorite!!”
Chase + Susan are getting married next Summer in July 2011 at St. Viator Catholic Church in Chicago. Their reception will follow at Eaglewood Resort + Spa. The resort is located in the Chicago North suburb of Itasca. The golf course and retreat sits upon 106 wooded and rolling acres.
Thanks Paige. ♥ Yes we definitely like mixing editorial fashion in with our couple’s sessions. Love it when a photo captivates and draws the viewer in for much more than a small mere glance.
Beautiful! I actually think your photos look more editorial rather than photo journal in style. This is meant as a compliment – some of these photos look like they’re straight out of a fashion magazine.
love the kite pics! so glad you went with m+m chase and susan! the wedding will be here before you know it :)
Awesome editing in the kite images. Reminds me of the old Coppertone sunscreen logo and painting with the little girl on the beach. Or a modern take on a Norman Rockwell painting. Very unique, I like it.
We had a great time with Sarah and Ryan! We love their style, and have already recommended them to several of our friends/family! Ryan and Sarah, I posted some of the pictures on facebook and have received nothing but great comments! Thank you again for everything, and we can’t wait until the wedding! I am now posting your website so they can all see more of your great work, and tagging you on facebook :)
Awesome pictures! Super creative with the kite! Hope you guys had as much fun with the millers as we did! Congrats! -Brad and Lauren
